Product: Chilli Con Carne

Description: Our Chilli Con Carne is a unique blend of garlic, black pepper, chilli powder, coriander seed, cumin, fenugreek, paprika, oregano and salt all ground together to give you fantastic and easy way to make authentic and delicious chillies and Mexican style food at home. Blended with the fast paced customer in mind, those people who don't always have the time to blend lots of herbs and spices when cooking, with this blend all you need to do is 2 teaspoons or 2 tablespoons (depending how hot you like your chilli) to 500g of mince and you're done!

Interesting Fact: Did you know that the name given to this popular Mexican dish ‘Chilli Con Carne’ is derived from the fact that the chilli is one of the key ingredients, the ‘con’ means ‘with’ and ‘carne’ means ‘meat’. Vegetarians would could a chilli sin carne, ‘sin’ meaning ‘without’. Throughout Mexico a variety of chillies are made including Chilli Verde – a pork based chilli which uses green habanero or jalapeno peppers to give it heat. There is also a variety of chilli known as White Chilli which uses chicken or turkey and white beans and no tomatoes or red meat, this mixture results in a white chilli sauce.

Ingredients: Garlic Granules, Ground Black Pepper, Chilli Powder, Ground Coriander, Ground Cumin, Ground Fenugreek, Noble Sweet paprika, Ground Oregano and Salt.

Allergy Advice: This product contains the allergen mustard, and also chilli, cumin and black pepper which contain naturally occurring sources of salicylates and are best avoided by people eating a salicylate free diet.

SUGGESTED USE

To serve 4, fry off your onion and mince, then add the spice blend and dry fry to help release the natural oils in the spice blend, add peppers, kidney beans and a carton of passata or a couple of cans of tomatoes and leave to simmer until cooked. If you like more fire to your chilli, then add a little more chilli or cayenne pepper to taste. You can also use this mix to pep up baked beans, flavour savoury rice, and use to make quick taco and enchilada fillings.

Shelf Life

Shelf life of two years provided that goods are stored in an airtight container in ambient conditions.
