Cajun Spice

Our Cajun spice blend is a traditional seasoning that hails from the Louisiana in the Deep South of the USA. The spicy authentic flavour is designed to enhance the flavour of the ‘holy trinity’ of celery, red peppers and onion used as a base in many Cajun recipes which are mixed in vaguely equal measure and then have other spices and herbs added to this mix. Our blend contains salt, Spanish paprika, fennel, basil, black pepper, garlic, onion, chilli, cumin & mustard.

Description: Our Cajun spice blend is a traditional seasoning that hails from the Louisiana in the Deep South of the USA.

Brief History: Cajun cuisine is a rich melding of flavours, ingredients and styles from French, Native American, Caribbean, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and African cuisines that developed around the beginning of 17th century. The style of cooking is rustic and hearty and Cajun chefs make much use of wild game, vegetables, sea foods and herbs and spices that are readily obtained from the swamps, bayous, lakes, rivers and woods that surround them. Classic dishes include jambalaya, stews, fricassees, soups and gumbos that are generally cooked in one pot.

Ingredients: Salt, Spanish Paprika, Fennel, Basil, Black Pepper, Garlic, Onion, Chilli, Cumin & Mustard.

Allergy Advice: Our Cajun spice blend contains ingredients such as Basil, Black Pepper and Chilli which are naturally occurring sources of salicylates which are best avoided by people eating a salicylate free diet.
