Description: Our Ancho chillies come from Mexico and are pre-cut to 3-6mm for use. Ancho chillies are deep reddish brown to black in colour and they have a mildly fruity flavour with a hint of plum and raisins, with a subtle earthy twist. They have a medium heat and register on the Scoville scale at between 3, 000-8, 000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU).

SUGGESTED USEThis medium chilli is used to flavour enchiladas, tamales, salsas, mole sauce and soups. The chillies can be ground and added to curries, chilli-con-carne and a whole variety of spicy dishes. You can use chilli to liven up just about any savoury dish, it can even be added to sweet dishes to add an interesting taste sensation, try adding a pinch or two to chocolate in all its forms, hot chocolate, icing, sauce and pudding. Add a light dusting of chilli powder and cumin to potato wedges or roasted vegetables for a spicy twist. A little chilli can also enhance the flavour of egg and cheese dishes.
