Brief History: Spinach was once valued for its medicinally properties as a demulcent and laxative, as well as for its culinary capabilities, although to be fair it’s been more of a vegetable than a medicine. Nicholas Culpeper in his 17th century herbal called it ‘Spinage’ and wrote that ‘It is more used for food than medicine, being a good boiled sallad, and much eaten in the spring, being useful to temper the heat and sharpness of the humours; it is cooling and moistening, diuretic, and renders the body soluble.’ Today as a food we know that spinach has a high nutritional value, it contains more iron than an egg yolk, contains good amounts of vitamins A, C, E, K, B2, and B6 and is rich in minerals such as Calcium, Magnesium, Manganese, Phosphorus, Potassium, Selenium and Zinc, and also contains omega 3.
Ingredients: Dried powder aerial parts of Spinacia oleracea.
